My brother works for a police department in Florida that received a tip that a local convenience store was selling cigarettes and other tobacco products to minors as young as 12 years old. His Chief told him to ask our
parents if they could use our 16 year old sister and have her go into the store and attempt to buy. The State Attorneys office interviewed her and gave their approval. They wanted to make sure that she was going to be okay on the stand. The big night came. They put a wire on her and sent her in while watching from a closed business across the street where they were able to see and hear the whole conversation. The plan was to simply send her in and have her buy a pack and leave. The cops would go in and make the arrest after she left. Well, she went in and asked for a pack of Newports. The cashier asked her how old she was and she stated 18. He then asked for her ID. The officers that were there figured if they were going to ID her, the clerk would see that she was not only 16 but had the

same last name as one of the local cops. Game over. Much to their surprise, the clerk looked at her license and told her she was underage and couldn't get smokes. He handed her license back and shocked the whole surveillance team when he said "you can't buy smokes...but do you smoke weed?" My sister is on the ball and since she was from a law enforcement family (dad has been a cop for over 22 years) she immediately answered "yes." Right there, on tape, he sold her 1/4 bag for $ 40.00.
